Pure Tūroa has been granted a 10-year concession to run the Tūroa skifield. The RSSA is focused on finding the best solutions to the RAL receivership that will see skiing and snowboarding continue on Mt Ruapehu.
We are disappointed in the outcome of Pure Tūroa being granted concessions to operate Tūroa, as this will result in the split of the two fields, which goes against the majority of our members’ wishes.
In addition, various groups continue to have serious concerns around this process and possible future outcomes; as highlighted in the DoC hearings.
As a organisation representing a large group of members we now need to look to the future of skiing on the maunga, and the changes as a result of separation of the two fields.
We will be going back to our members and asking what they would like to see us advocate for going forward on their behalf.
This is especially relevant given there is still uncertainty regarding Whakapapa.
